ABOUT US

The society always supports a full calendar of events. Our regular speaker led presentations usually held at Northowram Methodist Church on Northowran Green are a favourite for members and guests to find out about all aspects of local history. In summer months we offer a walk and talk history ramble around interesting parts of the village.

For those who like to be involved in a more hands on approach to history, you can join our Wednesday evening research meetings at Heywood United Reform Church lower meeting room.

CURRENT NEWS

PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION – MARCH 17th 2018

Northowram Historical Society held an open day at Northowram Methodist Church, Northowram Green on Saturday 17th March. The Event was an exhibition of the Society’s images archive, featuring images from lots of different areas of the collection. These were split in to different areas of interest which included:

Transport, Older Houses, Activities, People and Places.

The event attracted 120 people who braved the snowy conditions to enjoy looking and in some cases adding names and information to help fill some of the Society’s knowledge of the past histories of Northowram.
