Northowram Memorial Service for Remembrance Sunday – Images and thanks
The Northowram Scarecrow Committee would like to thank all those who attended the Memorial Service on Northowram Green, Sunday 11th 2018. Despite the weather the numbers were greater this year, with the congregations from the three Churches within the local Parish in attendance.
Many individuals contributed to the Service including

Patrick Taylor, Vicar of Heywood UR and Methodist Churches
Lynn Jagger local Stabler and assistants, representing horses and dogs lost in the Great War
Molly J Varley who laid a wreath on behalf of NSE
Richard Priestley, Chair of NSE who made the introductions and read poetry
James Shepherd, Soloist Bugler
Two pupils from Northowram Primary school who recited the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’
Scarlett who read the poem ‘I am not a badge of honour’
Councillor Peter Caffrey who laid a wreath on behalf of CMBC

Other contributions included the volunteers manning the road closure barriers, the tea makers at the Methodist Church, the staff at The Club for their pre and post service welcome (especially Trish who provided soup, sandwiches and scones at her own expense).
