Notes for Ward Forum meeting – Wednesday 28th March 2018
A well attended meeting with a good representation from Northowram and Shelf residents. Held at NorthowramCommunity Sports and Activity Club, Westercroft Lane.
The first item on the agenda was a police update which outlined the rise in burglary of buildings within the Northowram area. There were 22 recorded incidents at this time last year, this had now risen to 43. Also up were theft of vehicles, 6 previously, now up to 12. The audience were informed that a major initiative had now taken place and arrests had taken place of the main suspects, resulting in the figures going down.
An update from David Duffy from Calderdale libraries was given. This was to inform of a Library Service Delivery Review in which residents can be involved in the Library Consultation process to help shape the future of our local libraries. Please go to your local library to pick up a questionnaire if you would like to be involved in this process.
Brian Crossley gave an update to the Local Plan. The information given was not conclusive as government figures could change. The present figures for housing development in Northowram and Shelf are: Northowram 161 and Shelf 304 houses per year for the next 15 years. The possible uplift of these figures could result in 386 and 577 houses per year for the next 15 years. Brian pointed everyone to keep informed via the SNLPF web site (link available on the Village Society page).
Mike Beecham informed of the new Northowram.org website and a need to involve younger residents in contributing to the content of the site.
Meeting ended 7.30pm.
