Mike Crossley. Shelf and Northowram Local Plan Forum.
Inspector meeting took place in June. The developers wanted more housing than Council numbers that were put forward. The Local Plan pointed to a requirement for more land to accommodate more land for the use of employment. Inspector said 840 houses unrealistic and should be increased to over 1000. Employment aspirations were thought to be unrealistic and a report will be released soon that will be discussed at end of month by the council to see what position to take. Next stage possibly early next year. Lot of development is on green belt. There could be a reassessment of the plan to increase the numbers which could result in both Northowram & Shelf to be classified as two small towns not villages. If it goes to another consultation then more people will need to react to protect the earlier allocation. Some sites taken out of th original local plan could be coming back in.
PLANNING. The expected Co Op at the old tannery building is still in planning stages and could still go ahead.
Next Ward Forum meeting 2nd December 2019. Proposed to be at Northowram Methodist Church, Northowram Green. TBC.
